Secrets are awkward. They can be protective. They can be limiting. They can also misguide people's ideas and actions.
Set a timer for 20 minutes. Write about a bungled secret. Choose one that was spilled or one that led you or someone else down a mistaken path. Did the secret provide real or imagined protection of some kind? Use physical details of the setting to anchor your free write. Describe the physical place, the physical characteristics and attire of the people involved, and specific gestures. Write as much as you can.
Then put it aside for a day. Pick something from your free write and use it to begin a shaped piece of writing.
